Rising Tennis Star Coco Gauff Speaks up on Racism in the U.S

Nathan Congleton/NBC

Coco Gauff, the up and coming tennis star, had a powerful message for a Black Lives Matter crowd in Delray Beach, Florida.

During a Black Lives Matter rally in her hometown, Coco explained she just spoke with her grandmother about racism, and protests happening all around the country. Sadly, she declared she is fighting the same issue her grandmother was going through 50+ years ago. But as Coco said, the first thing we have to do is love each other. Then, we must have these tough conversations about the reality of racism.

You can listen to her speech here.

As Gauff explained, the only way we can get better is by educating, asking our black friends how we can help the movement, voting, and most importantly using our voice no matter how big or small they are.

The young tennis star makes the point; at our level, we all have the power to make a great change in our country. We should all make it a lifelong effort to do what’s right for all citizens of this country. The black community is entitled to justice, and all citizens should join the fight to make sure it is served.
