Jack Dorsey has supported the fight for racial justice by donating to Colin Kaepernick’s organization, Know Your Rights Camp.

In the wake of George Floyd’s death and the following protests, many influential figures have expressed support for the movement for justice. However, onlookers have urged celebrities with deep pockets to “put their money where their mouth is” and actually donate to the cause. Some stars, including Blake Lively, Chrissy Teigen, and The Weeknd, have heeded the call.

Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, has also contributed financially to the fight against racism and police brutality— on June 3, he pledged $3 million to Know Your Rights Camp. The organization, founded by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, has started a bail fund to support protesters in Minneapolis.

Dorsey tweeted about the donation, commending the organization’s mission to “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities.” Dorsey also donated to several other organizations on the same day.

Dorsey’s donation is part of the #StartSmall initiative, which has now donated over $88 million to different nonprofit organizations and social campaigns since the onset of COVID-19. This year, #StartSmall contributed $1 million to Live Free USA’s Masks For The People campaign and $167,000 to Covenant House New Orleans. Though the initiative may be named #StartSmall, these large donations are sure to make a considerable impact. We hope that Twitter continues to use its power and resources to enact positive change.
