Exercise Equipment Company Peloton Pledges to Quash Vicious Cycle of Ingrained Racism
The high-end indoor spin bike company Peloton has emerged as a leading force supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
In addition to keeping America red, white, and ripped, Peloton is keeping America grounded. This American exercise company reminds us of the ideals we preach in the United States and how the present shameful state of the world does not reflect these supposed values.
We move together. Embrace the discomfort that sparks growth and change. On Wednesday, we will ride and breathe united in two special classes supporting the Black community.

Peloton has received extensive consumer praise for their laudable efforts in regard to Black Lives Matter. CEO John Foley expressed his outrage at the current culture of contempt and blatant bigotry.
Very helpful visualization…. We have work to do. pic.twitter.com/uv0UtK3GcV

He announced that Peloton would be donating $500,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund in an effort to propel their racial equity efforts. The fitness company is a bona fide trailblazer, it pledged donations to anti-racism organizations well before rival companies decided to follow suit and save face; Peloton’s active role in the movement and apparent ally status seem authentic.
The Black community is hurting. Our Black Members, instructors, music partners and employees are hurting. #BlackLivesMatter, and it’s time to take action. To start, we’re making a $500,000 donation to NAACP LDF. We have more work to do. Will you join us? pic.twitter.com/SXaQWzljCt

This active, engaged, and unswerving bike company has really gone the extra mile; Peloton continues to empower black voices and pressure rival companies to join this racial justice campaign. Peloton keeps the racial equity wheels turning; we commend their impressive efforts and encourage other monolithic companies, with resources galore, to reach for their wallets and do more. When browsing for exercise equipment, keep in mind which companies are acting ethically and playing a pivotal role in the ongoing movement for justice. Exercise and advocacy make the perfect tandem; ride a Peloton and exercise both your body and beliefs.
I am a plucky Sophomore at Wesleyan University with a passion for writing, fashion, running, and extremely strong coffee—so strong that it would make a 6’5’’ WWE wrestler weep. I am a small person with a big personality, only intensified by the coffee, that seeps into both my bold street and writing style. I am currently based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and am excited to work for such an empowering, female-focused publication. During this trying time in history it is more important than ever for women to continue lifting each other up and spreading positive energy!
