Beauty-Influencer Jackie Aina Asks All Beauty Brands to #PullUporShutUp
Influencer Jackie Aina took to Instagram encouraging beauty brands to come forward with the number of black employees they have at a corporate level. Jackie posted this challenge in regard to the #PullUporShutUp campaign.
On June 3rd, UOMA Beauty founder Sharon Cutcher launched the #PullUporShutUp campaign, calling on brands who have shown support to the Black Lives Matter movement to release the number of black employees at their companies and to identify their employment levels.
Jackie Aina stated in her post, “ALL brands that have partnerships with me, I challenge and highly encourage all of you to participate.”
“Dear brands and corporations, thank you for your public statements of support for the black community,” Aina said in a video statement on her Instagram. “Be conscious that to ignore the role you have played and continue to play, and depriving black people access to economic participation, demonstrates a real lack of genuine desire for actual lasting change.”
Aina gave all brands and corporations a 72-hour window to release their numbers. Within the past 72 hours, some of our most loved beauty brands came forward in support of the black community. These brands include Glossier, Tarte, Huda Beauty, L’Oreal USA, and Sephora. However, the majority of these companies followed up with a small number of black employees.
