Daniel Radcliffe Voices Support for LGBTQ via the Trevor Project
Daniel Radcliffe shared an uplifting and supportive message of equality for the transgender community.
Daniel Radcliffe shared some supportive words to his blog on The Trevor Project in light of a recent tweet from J.K. Rowling.
“78% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being the subject of discrimination due to their gender identity. It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgender and nonbinary people”
Thank you Daniel Radcliffe for all your support https://t.co/C56gu10Fkk

The Trevor Project was founded in 1998 and has become the nation’s leading advocate for crisis and suicide prevention for the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning) community. Since its launch, The Trevor Project has compiled pieces of training for professionals working with youth such as educators, counselors, social workers, and many more seeking to assist in suicide prevention for LGBTQ-competent individuals.
Radcliffe’s message in response to Rowling’s tweet is delivered courteously and efficaciously. Displaying his vulnerability by stating he is “still learning to be an ally,” Radcliffe writes to the blog, “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.” Through his message, Radcliffe sheds light on the importance of how both supporting and being an ally is equally important as we reflect on how current events continue to reshape the world.
