Fan Favorite Fashion Label For Love & Lemons Addresses Black Lives Matter Movement
This trendy Los Angeles fashion brand is on the right side of history: it proudly and publicly champions Black Lives Matter.
For Love & Lemons understands that the color of a person’s skin reveals only one thing: the color of a person’s skin. We commend For Love & Lemons for tactfully tackling this issue of racial injustice and proving, via numerous social media posts and generous donations, that they support the racial justice campaign. On June 1, the label pledged to donate “all web sales made this past weekend and today” to the following organizations: Black Lives Matter, Bail Project, ACLU Nationwide, and NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
This popular clothing brand is an absolute trailblazer, not only does it support BLM, but it has a proven track record of giving back to the community and encouraging employees to be agents for change. In conjunction with the Black Lives Matter movement, For Love & Lemons has championed women’s advancement and economic stability. The brand incentivizes employees to give back to causes they are passionate about by offering paid volunteer days. The brand also solicits diverse bodies and races to represent them and endorse their products as “FL&L muses.”
To date, the brand has raised $90,000 in donations for Black Lives Matter.
We applaud the fashion brand for using their social media platforms to highlight this important cause and we encourage other brands to step up and do more. It is essential to speak out against racism, your silence is deafening.
I am a plucky Sophomore at Wesleyan University with a passion for writing, fashion, running, and extremely strong coffee—so strong that it would make a 6’5’’ WWE wrestler weep. I am a small person with a big personality, only intensified by the coffee, that seeps into both my bold street and writing style. I am currently based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and am excited to work for such an empowering, female-focused publication. During this trying time in history it is more important than ever for women to continue lifting each other up and spreading positive energy!
