Marc Jacobs Shares Photo of Vandalized LA Boutique on Instagram: ‘Property Can Be Replaced, Human Lives Cannot’
Luxury fashion brand Marc Jacobs is an absolute trendsetter: The brand is paving the way for fellow brands by championing Black Lives Matter.
In a recent Instagram post, Marc Jacobs posted a picture of his Rodeo Drive boutique, which was vandalized and looted (along with fellow luxury brands Alexander McQueen and Chanel). His storefront sign was vandalized and Sandra Bland‘s and George Floyd’s names were graffitied over the store’s logo plaque. Marc Jacobs eloquently responded with “A life cannot be replaced. Black Lives Matter.”
A life cannot be replaced. Black Lives Matter.

Nationwide, luxury fashion brands have become the targets of raids. Various stores in New York such as Nike, Bloomingdale’s, and Gucci have been vandalized. In contrast to rival luxury fashion brands that have dismissed passionate protests and the unfortunate looting as “opportunistic” (such as Chief Executive of Off-White, Virgil Abloh) or remained silent about the damage done to their stores, Marc Jacobs has addressed the issue on Instagram. He is relatively unfazed by the incident; he remains focused on the larger issue at hand; racism.
The fact that Marc Jacobs gets it but not Virgil is what’s puzzling . Lol .
Whatever.. stay safe out here my people . 🤞🏽

In addition to highlighting the central issue of systemic racism, Marc Jacobs has been posting fruitful, informative resources, such as links to charitable Black Lives Matter organizations, and messages of solidarity on his Instagram stories.
We applaud Marc Jacobs for recognizing the real issue of racial injustice and for utilizing his highly influential social media platform, with millions of loyal followers, to support Black Lives Matter.

I am a small person with a big personality, only intensified by the coffee, that seeps into both my bold street and writing style. I am currently based in the Washington, D.C. During this trying time in history it is more important than ever for women to continue lifting each other up and spreading positive energy!
