This year’s nominees include talent from shows such as Moulin Rouge!, Jagged Little Pill, and West Side Story. The award ceremony is a time when the Black acting community comes together to be recognized for their contribution to the theatre world. One of the many notable nominees for this year is Celia Rose Gooding who plays Frankie in Jagged Little Pill.
The young nineteen-year-old actress took to her Instagram to share both her excitement and gratitude for the nomination. She touched upon her struggles during this time, highlighting how grateful she is that events such as the Antonyo Awards give the Black community a space to gather in love. Another notable nominee is Hamilton alumn Jasmine Cephas Jones, nominated for her role as Roxanne in Cyrano.
