Notable Women of Broadway Team up to Help Give a Voice to the Black Women in the Industry
The women of Broadway are teaming up to do a series of Instagram takeovers in hopes to continue the #ShareTheMicNow campaign.
Broadway Serves co-founder Dionne Figgins orchestrated the idea by inviting some of the black actresses of Broadway to take over the accounts of some of the notable white ones. Broadway Serves works to bring the change off the stage and into the real world. Twenty pairs team up to continue the #ShareTheMicNow campaign. Idina Menzel Broadway legend and famously the voice of Queen Elsa from Disney’s Frozen is one of the many white actresses handing over their platforms.

Sutton Foster, another notable longtime theatre star is also participating in this takeover event lending her Instagram to actress Asmeret Ghebremichael. Ghebremichael is a powerful black broadway actress having starred in Legally Blonde and In the Heights as well as many others.
