Trey Songz Drops Powerful Protest Anthem ‘2020 Riots: How Many Times’

Atlantic Records

Trey Songz is the latest artist to release a protest anthem and we all should pay attention to it.

The singer has been vocal on his various social media platforms, calling for changes with systematic racism. Songz has taken part in many protests in his home state of Virginia and is now shining a light on police brutality and racism in his newest track “2020 Riots: How Many Times.”

The powerful anthem shows a different side to the R&B singer. The song acknowledges the pain and questions that people have asked, and what more should we do as a society to end institutionalized racism.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canadathe singer shared that as a musician, it is important to release music that others can connect to.  “We’ve got to make music that really touches the soul, that really addresses what the world is feeling right now. Especially our people.”

The singer also mentioned that we must continue to address these issues, and things must be disrupted for change to happen.

Proceeds from “2020 Riots: How Many Times” will benefit both Black Lives Matter and the Community Justice Exchange National Bail Fund Network.

Songz joined the list of musicians that are releasing songs that have been influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement. We encourage you all to take a listen, and we hope it inspires us to fight for change.
