Get Ready: Kehlani and JoJo Hint Potential Collaboration

Atlantic Records

What started as a Twitter post ended up as a potential future collaboration between the two incredible artists.

Speak it into existence. On July 7, Kehlani posted on Twitter commenting on how she hoped to direct music videos for some of her favorite artists.

With COVID-19 pandemic shutting down most studios, the singer has recently taken the director role in some of her own work. Recording them “quarantine style,” she has released self-shot videos for some songs from her latest album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, including “Toxic” and “F&MU.”

Now, Kehlani wants to expand into directing work from other singers. The comments section to her post included many potential artists tagged to collaborate with her, such as SZA, Tinashe, and Kiana Ledé.

However, no one could have seen where this would end. Merely a couple of hours later, the post got the attention of fellow R&B artist JoJo, who in turn expressed interest in the offer.

Kehlani then replied that she would be getting in touch with JoJo soon. “This would be a full circle moment for me,” Kehlani wrote. “Love it. texting u already.”

It’s safe to say that fans are excited about the prospect of this collaboration. Many people hopped onto the comments section to recommend some of JoJo’s songs to receive a Kehlani-directed video. Some popular suggestions are “Think About You” and “Pedialyte,” both hits from JoJo’s latest studio album, Good to Know. Other fans even went as far as suggesting Kehlani also collaborate as a singer, especially in a remix of JoJo’s “So Bad.”
