Take a Look at ‘The Parent Trap’ Reunion, the Walk Down Memory Lane We’ve Been Waiting for
It’s been a long time coming but it seems our wishes have been granted, as The Parent Trap alumni finally reunited on Instagram for a trip down memory lane.
The event was held to generate funds for World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization providing food to vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters. Currently, they’re helping alleviate food shortages among those most affected by Covid-19. The reunion was hosted by Katie Couric and saw nearly the whole cast come together to share memories of Oreos and ear piercings. The James twins (aka Lindsay Lohan) first appeared on our screens back in 1998 and 22 years on, the film is still a fan favorite.
In the video reunion, the cast reflected on the film’s catapult to popularity, with on-screen Dad Dennis Quaid saying how it “had some sort of stardust that was just sprinkled on.” Director Nancy Meyers and scriptwriter Charles Shyer also shared behind-the-scenes secrets, musing on the difficult but “fun experience” of capturing Lindsay’s dual roles. Even better, Lohan and Quaid treated fans to a reenactment of their infamous lines from the post-swap car exchange.
Wow! 22 years? 🤯 When this movie came out, My Dad and I learned the handshake. Every time he dropped me off anywhere, we’d do the shake ♥️. It’s also the movie that got me obsessed with Nat King Cole and music from the 40s and 50s.

The reunion was tinged with sadness though as the cast commemorated the late Natasha Richardson, remembered as “somebody so giving and so glad to be there.” Richardson won our hearts playing the beloved James’ mother but tragically passed away in 2009 following a skiing accident.
If you want to re-indulge in the ’90s classic, you can watch the reunion above. Meanwhile, our fingers are crossed for a sequel.
