Get Excited Because the First Look at Selena Gomez’s HBO Max Show, ‘Selena + Chef,’ Is Here
Selena Gomez is a singer, songwriter, actress, model, entrepreneur, and soon-to-be host of a new show coming to HBO Max.
This past May, HBO Max announced that Selena Gomez will be having her own show coming to the platform later in the summer. Well, it is later in the summer and we now know a lot more about the former Disney star’s trek into streamed television content.
Selena took to social media to share a bit of the behind-the-scenes of the forthcoming show, teasing fans with clips from multiple episodes.
Titled Selena + Chef, the 10-episode series puts Selena Gomez and a professional chef front and center as they virtually navigate putting a meal together without actually being together.
Because the program was filmed during the coronavirus pandemic, social distancing rules were still in place, which means that Selena will be learning how to cook by following along with a chef on the other side of the screen – both in their own kitchens, with their own tools, ingredients, and levels of skill.
In the announcement video posted on social media, Selena wrote “A little sneak of what I’m cookin’ up.”

“I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do, and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef. I definitely don’t have the formal training, though! Like many of us while being home, I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen,” Selena says as she opens up the promo clip for Selena + Chef.
Getting to take a look into the “Lose You To Love Me” singer’s kitchen is exciting in itself, so watching her try to figure out if her stove is electric or gas is just icing on the cake.
(From the clip we find out that her stove is, in fact, gas, unlike the chef who she is working with who is actually using an electric one.)
The unscripted cooking show seems like it’s going to be just as funny and relatable as it is informative and entertaining.

The upcoming program will also be used as a platform for multiple food-related charities that can be worked with and donated to both locally and globally.
Being paired to cook with a master in the culinary department is hard, but to do so over a Zoom call is another thing. Selena is one of the most passionate and determined people in Hollywood, though, so we already know that even if her food isn’t master chef material at the beginning, it will be eventually.
