Taylor Swift Becomes the Fifth Female Artist In History To Debut At Number-One On the Billboard Hot 100 Chart
Earlier this week, Taylor Swift became the fifth artist in history to debut at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with the release of her new song.
Two weeks ago, Taylor Swift surprised her fans with her new album, Folklore. The song featured her lead single, “Cardigan,” which reached number-one this week.
Along with the song, Swift released a new music video taking place in multiple different mystical settings. In less than a week, the video has already accumulated over 42 million views on YouTube and continues to grow by the minute.

With Swift adding this achievement to her long list of accomplishments, she now joins four other elite artists who have also debuted at number one. In addition to Swift, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande have also debuted at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Mariah Carey was the first-ever female artist to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 1995 with her smash hit “Fantasy.”
If you haven’t listened to Swift’s new song or album yet, it’s not too late. The song is currently available on all streaming platforms, so make sure to listen and then head over to Twitter and let Swift know which song is your favorite.
