The new musical adaptation of Disney’s classic animated film Cinderella, starring Camila Cabello, has resumed filming in the U.K. amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The cast includes comedians, actors, and singers such as John Mulaney, Billy Porter, Minnie Driver, Idina Menzel, James Corden, Pierce Brosnan, Missy Elliot, and Nicholas Galitzine. The filming for the movie was suspended in March due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and has just resumed.

Cabello announced via Instagram that she recently returned to the U.K. to continue filming.

The highly-anticipated new film, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures, is scheduled for release in February 2021. The film was written and is being directed by Kay Cannon, who also wrote and produced the Pitch Perfect series.

While Cabello will portray Cinderella, Galitzine will play none other than Prince Charming, or as he is known in this particular adaption, Prince Robert. Broadway actor Porter will be depicting a genderless Fairy Godmother, and renowned Broadway actress Menzel (who also voiced Elsa in the Frozen movies) will play the Stepmother.

The newest Cinderella princess posted an Instagram while on set back in March 2020 prior to the pause in filming.

The most recent adapted version of the fairy tale was the 2015 live-action Cinderella film starring Lily James, Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter, and Cate Blanchett. The film received positive reviews from audiences, and we are beyond excited to see how this new version will rank. There have currently been no recent updates about any release delays due to the pandemic.

We can’t wait to see how these amazing actors use new music to bring this fairytale to life.
