Institute of Digital Fashion

Leanne Elliot Young and Catty Taylor are taking control of the future of fashion through the use of technology with their company Institute of Digital Fashion.

Since the beginning of COVID-19, the pandemic has created a new normal for life as we know it. Leanne Elliot Young and Catty Taylor are determined to also find a new normal for the Fashion Industry. They are aiming to create a virtual space for fashion and popular events such as Fashion Week.

The founders Leanne Elliot Young and Cattytay both come from backgrounds in tech. Young founded creative hub CommuneEast, and Cattytay founded the Digi-Gxl network of women, trans and non-binary 3-D artists. The Institute of Digital Fashion offers a platform to restructure how technology and digital spaces are used from creation to consumer, as explained on their official website.

The company’s objective is to animate the vision and creativity of designers with technology such as AR and VR while aiming to push inclusivity and sustainability in the Fashion Industry. Co-founder Leanne Elliot Young stated on her Instagram, “WE ARE PUSHING TECHNOLOGY AS A SOLUTION TO NOT SELL MORE CLOTHES BUT TO DISRUPT THE WAY THE SYSTEM CONCEPTS, PRODUCES,  CREATES, BROADCASTS, AND DEMANDS WE CONSUME THEM.” People are already looking forward to this innovative way of Fashion.

The duo’s first high-end profile client is August Getty. The Institue of Digital Fashion has helped them build a “digital atelier” called Tinitus, where Getty will launch their new collections.
