Black-Owned Fashion Brand Telfar Aims to Make Their Highly Coveted Products More Accessible With Their New Bag Security Program
The newly popular brand Telfar, known for its luxury purses, has created a Bag Security Program in hopes to stop resellers and ensure everyone gets the bag of their choice.
Yesterday, Telfar announced that they would be launching their Bag Security Program, which would give consumers 24 hours to purchase any bag from their site even though they were all sold out. The program ensured that all bags purchased within that 24-hour window would be delivered by January 15, 2021.

Anyone who made a purchase would have to agree to a strict no refund, no cancellation policy since all bags were being made upon request. All bags sold out before the 24 hours were up as fans of the brand were in a frenzy hoping to secure the bag they wanted.

Liberian-American designer Telfar Clemens created the brand back in 2005, but Telfar didn’t start gaining popularity until earlier this year when more people decided to show their support for Black-owned businesses amidst the Black Lives Matter protests. Now it seems as though almost everyone in the Black community is dying to get their hands on one of the chic bags.
everyday “wyd” but never “what color Telfar bag you want?”

Telfar’s decision to create the program is being praised by fashion enthusiasts. Normally, when name-brand products that are in high demand sell out, resellers will auction them on their sites and inflate the prices, sometimes by thousands of dollars.
Telfar has made it clear that they put accessibility first, and they don’t want consumers to have to pay much more for the products they love.
Telfar is an exceptional brand. They watched + listened to everyone complain about not being able to get a bag then developed a bag security program, which will ensure that everyone who wants a bag will get one.
Staying true to their brand’s purpose: accessibility and community.

The Bag Security Program is the first of its kind, and many are anxious to see if other high-end brands will follow in Telfar’s footsteps. Telfar plans to release more bags on their site in the coming months as they work to fulfill all of the orders they’ve received.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the release of more bags if you weren’t able to score yours this go-round.
