Ozark fans, Jason Bateman just shared some exciting production news.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Bateman, who both stars and frequently directs the hit Netflix show, revealed that the final season of Ozark is going to start filming in November.

“We’re going to start November 9,” Bateman told IndieWire. “Everything is moving well toward that, and we’re very confident in the guidelines and protocols we’re going to be following. We’ve got tons of consultants, [and] we’re learning a lot from other productions.”

Ozark was one of the most binged television programs for the platform this year, and Netflix announced its long-awaited decision to renew the program at the end of June. They also disclosed that, for this last season, fans are getting 14 episodes that will be released into two separate parts at seven episodes each.

While the production of this final season will give fans something to look forward to, Bateman confessed that he would not be directing the first two episodes of the season due to concern over COVID-19. “As an actor, you just sit in your trailer until they’re ready for you, then you come on out, say your words, and go back to your trailer,” Bateman said. “As a director, you’re out there all the time: in pre-production, on location scouts, in production meetings, there are so many more opportunities to get infected. And, obviously, Atlanta is just raging with the virus right now.”

Ozark has been nominated for a total of 33 Emmy awards, 18 in which are 2020 nominations. Both Bateman and co-star Julia Garner, who plays fan-favorite Ruth Langmore, previously took home wins at last year’s Emmys for their performance in season two.

We can’t wait to see Ozark sweep at the Emmys on September 20 and are so excited to see what the final season has in store.
