The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently moved to Santa Barbara, after parting from the royal family, and they took the opportunity to volunteer as soon as they could.
As we know, the duke and duchess have both always loved helping others. This time with a new way of going to school, they joined the organization Baby2Baby with their drive-through event at Dr. Owen Lloyd Knox Elementary School.
Baby2Baby is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide children living in poverty with diapers, clothing, and all the necessities. Baby2Baby was also one of the four organizations the couple asked the public to donate to during their virtual baby shower back in April of this year.
Throughout the event, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were interacting with the students as they helped them pick their school supplies. Along with this, they also helped distribute food, clothing, and hygiene products.
However, the couple is always conscious of social distancing. As mentioned, this was a drive-through only event. Therefore, all interactions were through a car window or six feet apart from others. Both were wearing gloves and a mask (the Duchess’ being from a New York-based Black-owned company, Royal Jelly.
Meghan Markle is known for being an activist on the importance of school. Form her visit to Rwanda to her letter for the Association of Commonwealth Universities. She says education, “expands mindsets, and those minds can expand the scope of the world at large.”
With the ongoing pandemic, education has been one of the struggles parents are dealing with at the moment. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, along with Baby2Baby, are here to remind us to help others and stay positive during these times.
