Greentea Peng Explains the Concept Behind the Music Video for Her Song ‘Hu Man’
Greentea Peng, a rising London singer, revealed new visuals for her latest song, “Hu Man.”
Peng, whose real name is Aria Wells, is a neo-soul and psychedelic R’n’B singer. Her stage name comes from her love for green tea and British slang for attractive. She was born in south London in the early 90s. At the age of twelve, Peng stopped singing, but picked it up in her early twenties. Her debut EP, Sensi, is a combination of R&B, dub reggae, and hip hop. Her current EP, Rising, produced by her brother, stage name Earbuds has made her become part of the 2020 list of rising stars in music, media, and culture.
Peng explained in an Instagram post how her latest work, “Hu Man,” is an exploration of identity, and modern-day ego man attaches themselves to while trying to find unity out of the ego.
Her concept was brought to life by Felix Brady, filmmaker for his work, Winston & Daisy. The new visual for “Hu Man” is linked below.
Peng and Brady worked together on the first song of her EP Rising, “Mr. Sun (Miss Da Sun).” The visual captures Peng between nature and the harsh edges of a city. The visual harmonizes with the song, a warm moment after a period of pain.
Peng is bringing her style to the music industry. She also stands out for her distinctive fashion and motivating others to wear their hair naturally. Check out her EP, Rising.
