WNBA Player, Maya Moore, Marries Jonathan Irons, the Man She Helped Free From Prison

WNBA star, Maya Moore, and her new husband, Jonathan Irons, went onto Good Morning America to announce that they are now married.
The couple was invited onto the show to share their unique love story. The two had met when Moore was only 18 and was doing ministry program, while Irons was in prison. Moore admitted that the two had started out as friends, but over the years grew closer and closer.

When Irons was only 16-years-old he was wrongly convicted of a crime and spent most of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. In March, new evidence was found in favor of Irons, and with Moore leading the charge to free him, Irons was released on July 1 after over two decades of imprisonment.
Soon after the couple got married and have been enjoying life together. In their interview with Good Morning America that they plan to work together as activists, working on cases similar to Irons’, in which individuals have been wrongly imprisoned, putting her basketball career on hold for now.
The fight for change is still at the forefront of their minds. Both are involved with a get-out-the-vote campaign and pushing for prosecutorial reform. Irons wants to help overturn wrongful convictions of those less fortunate than him.
