Karol G and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Tusa’ Has Earned Youtube Billion Views Status
Two international superstars, Karol G and Nicki Minaj enter the elite Youtube’s Billions Views Club with their collaborative hit single, “Tusa”.
The award-winning song, “Tusa”, was released on November 7, 2019, charting No. 1 in numerous countries. The reggeaton single was written by Karol G, Keityn, Ovy On The Drums, and Nicki Minaj, and produced by Ovy On The Drums.
Since last year’s release, “Tusa” has accumulated over 1 billion views with more than 8 million likes.
Karol G celebrated her major career milestone via Instagram, stating that “today we’ve reached one billion views on YouTube. The first song of mine to achieve this figure, I celebrate this with you all who made this possible. Infinite thanks.” She continued by expressing gratitude to the billions of people all around the world that have supported the breakup anthem.
The song’s title, “Tusa” is Colombian slang for the mixture of heartache and desire for revenge felt by a person when their partner breaks up with them. Karol G’s lyrical verses tell the story of a woman who struggles to forget her former boyfriend, while Minaj’s rap tells the man that the woman has moved on with her life.
“Tusa” broke several records within the music industry. It became the first song by two lead female artists to debut at number one on the US Hot Latin Songs chart. The song peaked at number one in numerous countries and is the longest-running number-one single on the Argentina Hot 100, having spent 25 weeks at number one on the chart.
In addition to “Tusa”, Karol G has two other entries on the Billion Views Club with her lyrical features on Anuel AA’s tracks “Secreto” and “China”. This marks Minaj’s fifth music video with more than one billion views.
