Joey King Will Star in and Executive Produce New Netflix Film ‘Uglies’

Kevork Djansezian/NBC

A new adaptation of Scott Westerfeld’s novel is coming to Netflix.

Joey King is known for her performances in The Kissing Booth, The Act, White House Down, Ramona and Beezus, and much more.

King continues to make even more advances in her career. A recent Deadline article broke the news of her part in Uglies, based on Westfield’s best-selling dystopian novel. The storyline is based on an operation that 16-year-olds undergo that erases all imperfection and conforms teenage girls to the societal standards of beauty.

Not only will King most likely be starring as the lead role Tally, but she is set to be an executive producer as well.

There is a dark truth behind the miracle surgeries and Tally tries to discover the hidden truth before it’s her turn to have the life-altering procedure. The film is definitely going to bring mystery, drama, and suspense and we can’t wait to watch it all unfold. McG is set to direct the movie after assisting in films such as The Babysitter, Rim of the World, and The Babysitter: Killer Queen.

Fans are very excited that the widely popular book is finally being made into a movie.

Others are happy that King will be starring in the film.

We cannot wait for more updates on this film. King has been on fire lately starring in multiple lead roles, being nominated for an Emmy, executive producing films, and even striking a deal with Hulu. We have no doubt that King will provide an amazing performance as she always does.
