Jim Carrey is a famous actor, best known for his iconic roles in The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Maya Rudolph has been a regular on SNL and has acted in famous movies such as Bridesmaids and Grown-Ups. These two are perfect to play former Vice President and Democratic Presidential Nominee, Joe Biden, and running-mate Senator Kamala Harris in light of the fast-approaching election night.

The screenwriter and producer of SNL, Lorne Michaels, defended his choice for Carrey to play the role of Biden. In a statement, he explained, “First of all, Jim is brilliant, and he cares deeply about the country and what’s going on. He wants to have a voice in this…Every time he’s done SNL, he’s always come through brilliantly, and I think what he will bring to this part will be stunning and possibly transcend comedy. Because we’re in a period where comedy is only part of it.”

The show was hosted by comedian Chris Rock for the SNL Premier. Additionally, there was an iconic guest performance from the rapper, Megan Thee Stallion. Both of them were seen sporting masks in their promo, emphasizing the importance of safe health practices.

We love to see the way these stars can take on roles involving recent political events. In case you missed this legendary season premier you can catch up on NBC’s website or Hulu now.
