Marsai Martin Develops a New Series ‘Baddies’ About Trailblazing Black Women
ABC’s Black-ish star Marsai Martin is currently developing a new series that tells the stories of trailblazing Black women as she is one herself.
When Martin was 14-years old she made history by becoming the youngest person to executive produce a major studio film for her work on Little. Her production banner Genius Entertainment has partnered with ITV America’s Sirens Media to bring the world Baddies.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Siren’s president Jessica Sebastian-Dayeh said, “Our team continues to be blown away by Marsai on multiple levels. She’s a creative force of nature and an important voice in our culture, and aside from her obvious talents on camera, is a very deft and thoughtful executive behind the scenes. We’re proud to partner with her and Genius on this series that will shed light on vital stories in imaginative and unexpected fashion.”
The unscripted television series will shine a well-deserved light on Black women who have broke new ground with their uncanny strength and courage. If the show’s pilot gets approved this will be Martin’s first series that she produces. We hope to see this as her first of many. Martin will produce alongside Joshua Martin, Carol Martin, Nicole Dow, and Prince Baggett of Genius Entertainment.

“Black women have always contributed to American culture,” Martin said to Hollywood Reporter. “They’ve just never gotten the recognition. This show is a fun way of letting people know how dope we are.”
Moving forward, we don’t know how the series will pan out but this is a big step for Martin and fans will be on the lookout for more information. We are excited to see how Martin plans on discussing American culture in her show, during these controversial times.
