During the NBC comedy show’s long-awaited premiere this Saturday, cast member Kate McKinnon paid tribute to late Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

McKinnon, who joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2012, has been portraying the legendary Ginsburg on SNL’s Weekend Update for years, which includes wearing her classic glasses and lace neckpieces.

During the season premiere of the show, McKinnon sat in the audience and put her hand on her heart to honor Ginsburg’s recent passing. Ginsburg passed away on September 18 at the age of 87 due to complications from cancer.

In addition to being a Supreme Court Justice, Ginsburg gained notoriety as the “Notorious RBG” and had a fanbase that not only spread across the United States but across the globe. Ginsburg was a pioneer for women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and equal rights for all. She was known for her fiery liberal dissents and her strong work ethic.

In addition to portraying her on Weekend Update, McKinnon also took part in a rap about RBG featuring other castmates including Pete Davidson and Chris Redd.
