Netflix’s ‘GLOW’ Canceled Due to COVID-19

Due to the pandemic, the wrestling dramedy GLOW on Netflix has been canceled before its fourth and final season could air.
The show was focused on the gimmicks of a 1980s women’s professional wrestling circuit, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (or GLOW).
According to Deadline, the coronavirus is the reason why production was suspended indefinitely. The series had been renewed for a fourth and final season, of which only one episode was filmed in early March. The show is considered “high risk” due to the many physical scenes.

All good things must come to a GLOWing end. We’re coming back for a fourth and final season!
In a statement, series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch explained that their show, which starred Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron, has become the latest casualty of COVID-19 after production was forced to shut down earlier this year. “COVID has killed actual humans. It’s a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show,” Flahive and Mensch said.
“Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW. We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that’s gone.” They continued. “We’ll miss our cast of weirdo clowns and our heroic crew. It was the best job.”

“We’ve made the difficult decision not to do a fourth season of GLOW due to COVID, which makes shooting this physically intimate show with its large ensemble cast especially challenging,” a Netflix spokesperson added. “We are so grateful to creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, Jenji Kohan and all the writers, cast and crew for sharing this story about the incredible women of GLOW with us and the world.”

Many fans were sad and also frustrated to see the show go.
why could they not just put #glow on hold like every other show? i would have happily waited 2 years until they could film safely. not getting a finale for one of the best ensemble casts of women on tv feels like a real loss

We are disappointed to see GLOW added to the list of shows canceled due to the virus, especially because it was a show highlighting how strong women are. The first three seasons are still available to watch on Netflix.
