Morgan Wallen Is Dropped From SNL Performance Over COVID-19 Concerns
Season 46 of Saturday Night Live may not look different on screen, but behind the curtains, serious safety measures are being followed for the health of the cast, crew, and audience.
On October 3, Chris Rock and Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the season during these difficult times. Deadline reported that this season opener was the highest viewed premiere of the show in four years and fans were excited to see it.

This coming Saturday was supposed to feature Morgan Wallen, a popular name in the world of country music who rose to fame through his performances on The Voice. He signed with Big Loud Records releasing his music; some of his most popular songs include “Whiskey Glasses,” “The Way I Talk,” and “Up Down,” featuring Florida Georgie Line.
However, this upcoming Saturday’s lineup will look different than expected. Wallen was spotted by fans at a University of Alabama football game not observing any coronavirus protocols. He did not wear a mask, was not distanced, and was even caught kissing fans, all evident on videos that went viral on TikTok.

Once this behavior made its way to SNL executives, the showrunners decided it would be best to pull the act. Wallen confirmed this was true in a video on his Instagram explaining to his fans what had happened, stating he understood why they decided to make this decision.

While there has been no mention of who will replace Wallen yet, we do know we get to see comedian Bill Burr, Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris, and—fingers crossed—Jeff Goldblum recreating his role as ‘The Fly.’
A new episode of Saturday Night Live airs this Saturday, 11:30 PM Eastern or 8:30 PM Pacific.
