Miley Cyrus Announces New Album ‘Plastic Hearts’

Miley Cyrus has just shared the release date for her seventh studio album Plastic Hearts.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for almost three years for new music from the singer, and the wait is finally over. Cyrus made the announcement Thursday on social media and shared the album cover, which shows the singer in black and pink, serving an 80s rock look. Fans have been begging her for a full rock album and their wishes have been granted. The album is set to be released the week of Cyrus’ 28th birthday, on November 27.

On her Instagram post, Cyrus wrote a heartfelt note to fans detailing the journey that lead to this new album. She shared that she had been working on the new music for the last two years. Plans for releases changed after her public divorce; Cyrus was meant to release two EPs, She Is Here and She Is Everything, to follow She Is Coming (2019). After the break-up, Cyrus started from scratch writing; she expressed, “Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the musics relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed.”

If you’re reading this… know that I fucking love and appreciate you on the deepest level. I began this album over 2 years ago. Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole fucking life. But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the musics relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed. Nature did what I now see as a favor and destroyed what I couldn’t let go of for myself. I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes. Luckily my collaborators still had most of the music that was burned up in journals and computers filled with songs for the EP series I was working on at the time. But it never felt right to release my “story” (each record being a continual autobiography) with a huge chapter missing. If it were a chapter in my book I guess I would call it “The Beginning” which usually when something is over we call it “The End”. But it was far from that. In triumph and gratitude I present to you my 7th studio record, Plastic Hearts. To be released Nov. 27th 2020. XXMC Pre Order in Bio. Photograph by: @therealmickrock

In August, Cyrus released “Midnight Sky,” a punchy rock anthem that introduced her new sound to the world. The song’s raw lyrics show how the singer is being reborn through her music, and you can hear her strength through the rasp in her voice. The song is now Cyrus’ highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 since 2017, with its music video receiving over 75 million views in just two months.

Start counting down the days because November 27 will be here before you know it. You can pre-order the album here.
