Lizzo Encourages Followers to Vote by Posting a Video of Her Singing on Instagram
Pop sensation Lizzo uses her Instagram to encourage her fans to rush to the polls.
With Election Day just around the corner, the talented Lizzo has taken to social media showing herself submitting her ballot. In typical Lizzo fashion, she put a fun, unique twist to her posts encouraging her fans to rush to the polls.
Lizzo was decked out for the occasion. An article by Grazia describes Lizzo’s outfit; “The Detroit native went all out for her trip to the ballot box, donning little white shorts, an American flag-themed bustier, and the star of the show: her Swarovski-covered Jimmy Choo x Timberland… She styled the sparkly footwear with red socks to match her newly dyed hair and the rest of her accessories: an oversized clutch that carried her precious cargo (read: her ballot), a sparkly protective face mask, and layered necklaces.” Clearly, Lizzo’s extravagant outfit shows just how important voting is.
The post also has her serenading her viewers with an upbeat song, chanting, “It’s time to vote!” Her caption reads, “I VOTED. This is my third time voting in my whole life. When you think about how few and far in between that is it really puts things into perspective! I believe this is the beginning of making voting ACCESSIBLE and FAIR so that this country reflects its people. To all my activists, thank you for your constant organizing & service. Let’s get our vote in so we can get back to the good fight for true liberty and justice for ALL. Have YOU voted yet?”
This is not the first time Lizzo has encouraged her fans to vote. Just two weeks ago at the Billboard Music Awards, while accepting her award for Top Sales Artist, she rocked a black dress with the word “VOTE” repeatedly etched throughout the design.
In her speech she repeated her message encouraging listeners to go to the polls, stating “So whether it’s through music, protest, or your right to vote, use your power, use your voice, and refuse to be suppressed.”
Lizzo is demonstrating that the most patriotic act Americans can do is vote. Make sure to submit your ballot by November 3 to take part in the 2020 Election.
