After Joe Biden was elected president on November 7, 2020, fans took to Twitter to express their joy, and here are our favorite reactions from people all over the globe.

Biden and his running mate, former California Senator, Kamala Harris have officially been elected president and vice president of the United States. After the news broke that they had defeated President Donald Trump, celebrations commenced all over the globe. People flooded the streets to dance and sing together, and took to the internet to honor the new president and vice president.

Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, shared the emotional photo above, which shows the very moment when they found out he had won.

Biden thanked the American people on social media and stated what an honor it is to serve as our president. He has promised to work hard and do his best to aid all Americans, even those who didn’t vote for him.

Several politicians, international leaders, actors, actresses, celebrities, and athletes offered their congratulations via Twitter. Harris first posted a video of her talking to Biden on the phone, informing him that they were victorious in their campaign.

In response to Harris making history as the first woman of color to be elected as vice president, Julia Louis-Dreyfus posted on Twitter and referenced her TV show Veep. Her sitcom show that she stars in has seven seasons and ended in 2019.

Former President Barack Obama also offered his congratulations to his former Vice President, Biden, on Twitter. Former First Lady Michelle Obama also released a statement congratulating the new president and vice president.

Harris’s sister, Maya Harris, also responded to the news on Twitter. She shared her excitement and happiness about her sister making history as the first African-American and Indian woman to serve as the vice president of the United States.

Singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus used Twitter to congratulate Biden and Harris on their victory while referencing her 2009 hit “Party in the USA.” Singers Cher, Demi Lovato, Barbra Streisand, and more congratulated the pair as well.

Actress Kerry Washington, known for her work in the TV series Scandal, also offered her congratulations to Biden and Harris on their historic win on Twitter. She also served as the host for the 49th Democratic National Convention this year.

Pakistani feminist and activist Malala Yousafzai also congratulated Biden and Harris on Twitter. The Nobel Peace Prize Winner shared a picture of her and Harris and congratulated her specifically.

Actress and activist Yara Shahidi, known for her work in the TV show Black-ish, encouraged fans to vote before the election and congratulated the president and vice president-elect on Twitter. Shahidi shared a sweet picture of her and Harris and expressed her joy at hearing about her victory.

Singer and actress Demi Lovato also offered her congratulations to Biden and Harris on Twitter after their victory was announced. Lovato was very vocal about the importance of voting prior to election day, and recently released a song called “Commander in Chief” which criticized President Donald Trump’s actions while in office.

Model, author, and entrepreneur Chrissy Teigen also expressed her excitement about Biden and Harris’ victory on Twitter alongside her husband, singer John Legend. Legend recently performed at Biden’s final rally prior to the election in Philadelphia.
