Trump’s Inner Circle Advises Him to Accept Election Loss
Trump’s inner circle, including his wife, Melania, is reportedly telling him it is time to resign.
According to CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz, “First Lady Melania Trump has joined the growing chorus of President Trump’s inner circle advising him the time has come for him to accept the loss, a source familiar with the conversations tells CNN.” CNN reports that “she has offered [her opinion], as she often does.”

On Sunday, former President George W. Bush became the highest-profile Republican to accept the election results. He called the President-elect to congratulate him personally. “I extended my warm congratulations” to Mr. Biden “and thanked him for the patriotic message he delivered last night,” Mr. Bush said in a statement released after he spoke with Mr. Biden by telephone. “I also called Kamala Harris to congratulate her on her historic election to the vice presidency. Though we have political differences, I know Joe Biden to be a good man who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country.” He also stated, “the American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair. Its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear.” Only a few other well-known Republicans, such as Senators Mitt Romney of Utah and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, have congratulated Biden.
“You’re not going to change the nature of President Trump in these last days, apparently, of his presidency,” Romney told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday. “He is who he is and he has a relatively relaxed relationship with the truth, and so he’s going to keep on fighting until the very end. But I’m convinced that once all remedies have been exhausted if those are exhausted in a way that’s not favorable to him, he will accept the inevitable.”
Still, other Republicans appear to be walking the line between supporting a candidate taking legal actions, like pursuing recounts in various states, and not endorsing the core of Trump’s argument that he should retain power because of conspiracies and illegal election activity by Democrats.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who unsuccessfully ran in 2016 for the Republican presidential nomination, reminded the public the day after Election Day that “taking days to count legally cast votes is NOT fraud” and that “court challenges to votes cast after the legal voting deadline is NOT suppression.”

There is a slim to none chance of Trump changing the election results; thankfully, it is only a matter of weeks until he is out of office, and America can move on to its next chapter.
