The Weeknd Set to Perform at the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show
The Weeknd has just announced that he’ll be taking the stage for the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show.
The wait is over to find out who will be performing at next year’s Super Bowl, which will be held in Tampa, FL. The Weeknd has confirmed that he will be the one performing at the event, and his fans couldn’t be more excited. Just 10 years ago, he was homeless and trying to jumpstart his music career in Toronto.
The news was announced earlier today after The Weeknd posted a teaser last night, leaving fans wondering what he has planned next. Many thought it was a snippet from a new music video, but it turned out to be something even better, and even more unexpected.
As an OG XO, I can’t put into words how proud I am of Abel! I saw this man grow from an underground artist that nobody knew what he looked like to what he is now, a future super bowl half time show performer. @theweeknd I am so so so proud of you!

The news of the performance makes perfect sense considering how successful The Weeknd has become. His hit song, “Blinding Lights,” is the most-streamed song on Spotify this year with over 1.5 billion streams. Back in September, the song also broke the record for the most weeks in the top five of Billboard’s Hot 100, after surpassing Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” which held the spot for 27 weeks.

Fans are excited to hear The Weeknd perform more hits from his latest album, After Hours, after his 2020 tour got pushed back a year due to COVID-19 concerns. Many people are also wondering who else will join him on the stage since Super Bowl performers are known for bringing out special guests. Many are speculating one to be Ariana Grande now that the two have two duets together, the 2014 hit “Love Me Harder,” and “off the table,” from Grande’s latest album Positions.

There’s no denying that The Weeknd is under a lot of pressure, and the singer has big shoes to fill after recent performances from stars like Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga. Make sure you catch The Weeknd’s performance at the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show on February 7, only on CBS.
