Jennifer Lopez Accepts the People’s Icon Award With Surprise Guests And Stunning Speech
Jenny from the Block took home the Icon Award giving the virtual audience an impassioned speech about what’s really important to her after seeing the world turn upside down.
To kick off her acceptance speech, a gorgeous Armie Hammer introduced Lopez to some of her friends who wanted to share just how much of an impact she had made as an Icon. Renee Zellweger went first declaring her admiration for Lopez as an artist, and a force to be reckoned with.
Zellweger proclaimed, “You have been pushing boundaries all over the place for decades and this past year, with Hustlers and your shows and your music and your family and your advocacy, empowering women and your unbelievable Super Bowl halftime show — well you just raised the bar into the stratosphere!” She stated that on that night she was a fan just like everyone else and concluded the speech by saying, “You are a triple-threat creative visionary, you are an inspiration and you are certainly an icon.”
Next, Nicole Kidman paid tribute to Lopez’s endless energy as a performer. Kidman told the story of when she visited Lopez in her Las Vegas residency; Lopez finished the concert and mingled with people afterward such as chatting with Kidman and her family. Lopez accepted these compliments with a great heart and finished her acceptance with a truly inspiring speech.

Lopez began by reflecting on how 2020 showed her what truly mattered, the people she connected with, and the impact on her record sales. She told us about her profound year, performing at the Super Bowl Halftime, releasing a movie, doing the things she always wanted to do. She reminded the girls and women in the audience that they have the power to do what they want no matter who tries to stop them.
Lopez concluded, “If I have touched you or them in any small way, then this is the greatest award I could ever receive. I accept this award with great humility and gratitude, and hope we can begin to heal as a country and stand together united and proud, and in harmony.” We are feeling blessed after hearing this iconic speech from an iconic woman and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
