American indie singer Phoebe Bridgers and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers released a cover of the 1990s Goo Goo Dolls hit “Iris,” and we are obsessed.

Before the presidential election was called for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on November 7, Bridgers and Rogers promised fans that if Biden and Harris won, the duo would record and release their cover of “Iris.” The song by the American rock band the Goo Goo Dolls was a hit in the 1990s and is still loved by many today.

Low and behold, after President Donald Trump lost re-election to Biden and Harris, Bridgers and Rogers delivered and released their version of “Iris” with Rogers singing backing vocals during the chorus. The two singers released the track on Friday, November 13, and it couldn’t have come soon enough.

Bridgers and Rogers released the cover in order to raise money for Georgia Representative Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight Action foundation which aims to promote just elections. Fans were ecstatic and voiced their excitement about the new cover on social media.

Bridgers released her third album, Punisher, this past summer, and Rogers released her most recent album in 2019 called Heard It In a Past Life. We thought this cover was amazing and look forward to hearing more collaborations between Bridgers and Rogers in the future.
