Tina Fey Will Host NBC’s ‘One Night Only: The Best of Broadway’ and Here’s What You Need to Know

Comedian and actress, Tina Fey is set to host NBC’s One Night Only, The Best of Broadway featuring casts of several Broadway musicals including Jagged Little Pill, Mean Girls, and more.

Fey will host the two-hour-long TV event which will serve to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The event will feature special performances from actors and singers including Billy Porter (known for his work in Kinky Boots), Nathan Lane (known for his work in The Producers), and Vanessa Williams (known for her work in After Midnight).

The television special honoring theater artists who are currently unable to perform due to the COVID-19 pandemic will air on December 10, 2020, at 8 PM ET. The casts of musicals including Chicago, Jersey Boys, Mean Girls, Rent, and Diana: The Musical. Individual Broadway artists will also take part in the charitable event including Annaleigh Ashford, Ron Cephas Jones, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal, Leslie Odom Jr., Sean Hayes, Aaron Tveit, Kristen Bell, and more.

This star-studded event will also include performances from artists who do not come from a live-theater background including Kelly Clarkson, Patti LaBelle, John Stamos, Brett Eldredge, and Alanis Morissette. The money raised through donations following this event will be allocated to those in the Broadway community who are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This money will aid artists in purchasing groceries, medicine, and other necessary essential items.

According to Playbill, when asked about her involvement in the event, Fey said, “I’m so happy to be a part of this night, raising money for Broadway Cares, and to watch these mega-talented people do what they do best.”

A spokesman for the Broadway Cares organization (executive director) Tom Viola also told Playbill that, “We are deeply grateful to NBC for making this special evening possible and to the spectacular lineup of Broadway’s best who are so generously sharing their time and talent,” added Tom Viola, executive director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. “The joy that this special will create will translate into meals and medication, health, and hope for those within our Broadway community who are struggling during this pandemic and extraordinary work shutdown.”
