Watch Hayley Williams Smash Her Tiny Desk (Home) Concert
Hayley Williams gives her first solo performance of her Petals for Armor hits for her Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.
Usually joined by her Paramore bandmates, Williams made her live debut as a solo artist this week for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. This comes after her first solo tour scheduled for this summer was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Williams performed three hits from her EP Petals for Armor, her first solo project that was released earlier this year. The record was well-received and reached the top spot on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart. It was also named one of the best albums of 2020 by Billboard, Rolling Stone and more.
After the chaotic year we’ve all had, Williams was beyond ready to perform some of her favorite songs off of the EP. “I’ve never done this without Paramore,” she said. The band did their own Tiny Desk Concert back in 2017.

Williams was joined by her own band, which featured former Paramore member Joey Howard on bass along with three new instrumentalists. Williams also joined in on keyboard and guitar. She thanked her bandmates for accompanying her, tweeting that “music and friends came through” despite the year we’ve had.

Fans are loving the performance, and they’re glad Williams is finally able to showcase her solo talents. Even though they’re bummed that they couldn’t hear Petals for Armor in person this year, they’re grateful that they at least got to experience it virtually.

Although virtual concerts are the new normal for now, fans are hoping they’ll still get a chance to attend a Petals for Armor show in the near future. In the meantime, be sure to watch Williams’ Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, now streaming on YouTube.
