Check Out the Star-Studded Cast of ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’
Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Ashton Sanders, and more are set to star in the highly anticipated Fred Hampton biopic Judas and the Black Messiah.
Judas and the Black Messiah is finally expected to release on February 12 after being delayed due to COVID-19 concerns, and film lovers can’t wait to finally see it. Fans have been buzzing about the film since the trailer was released back in August, and the cast is only adding to their excitement.
The film centers around the Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton who became known for his activism in Chicago in the 1960s. He was killed by police in 1969 after FBI informant William O’Neal infiltrated the Black Panther Party to arrange Hampton’s murder.
Kaluuya, who is set to play Hampton, is known for his major roles in Get Out, Black Panther and Queen & Slim. Kaluuya received some backlash for the role because some felt it was unfair to have a British actor playing a prominent figure in African American history. This is similar to the feedback Cynthia Ervio received for her role in Harriet.

Stanfield, who starred in Get Out, Atlanta and The Photograph will play O’Neal, and Moonlight and Native Son’s star Sanders will play Larry Roberson, another member of the Black Panther Party who was killed in the police raid. The cast also features Euphoria and The Hate U Give star Algee Smith, Project Power‘s Dominique Fishback and Breaking Bad and Friday Night Lights‘ Jesse Plemons.

The film was directed and produced by Shaka King and written by King and Will Berson. The score was composed by Mark Isham, who was also involved in Blade, The Lucky One, Once Upon A Time and many more films.

We’re all ready to see the film after the long wait and all eyes will be on Kaluuya’s portrayal of Hampton. There’s no better time than now for Hampton’s story to be told following the recent incidents of police brutality and Black Lives Matter protests. Be sure to watch Judas and the Black Messiah out in theaters and on HBO Max on February 12.
