The drama series 9-1-1:  Lone Star focuses on the police and fire department of a fictional company based out of Austin, Texas. The series first premiered in January 2020. The name of the series 9-1-1: Lone Star comes from the association of Texas being the “Lone Star State”. Season 2 of the series has just been announced to air on Monday, January 18.

The series follows a New York firefighter, Owen Strand played by the famous actor, Rob Lowe, and his son Tyler Strand played by Ronen Rubenstein. The father and son relocate after a divorce to Austin, Texas. Strand must keep a balance between his chaotic work-life and problems going on in his personal life.

The rest of the cast will be making a return for the second season except for actress Liv Tyler, who plays the role of Michelle Blake. Tyler was unable to film for season 2 as she could not travel from London to California due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The second season will include the COVID-19 pandemic and how it is affecting the crew. The series shared behind the scene photos to Instagram earlier in the week of the cast wearing their masks.

Although Tyler was unable to make it to season 2, actress Gina Torres fills the role of Tommy Vega a former paramedic. When the COVID-19 pandemic strikes Vega returns to work after her husband’s restaurant goes under due to the pandemic.

NBC News interviewed Torres as she gave a few statements regarding the new season. Torres is “truly honored” to portray a paramedic during these hard times the world is undergoing. She states,  “I’m very conscientious of making sure that what we’re putting forward — what I’m putting forward — is accurate and gives them the respect and the attention that they deserve for everything that they’re doing day to day to day,”.

The official Twitter account for 9-1-1: Lone Star took to Twitter releasing an intense 30-second clip of the new season captioned “These ladies know how to put in the work! See them in full force — MONDAY on @FOXTV”

The season 2 trailer has fans thrilled for this show to begin again and can’t wait to see the realistic aspects of how the pandemic is affecting these characters.
