Meet Nicola Coughlan from Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’
Nicola Coughlan who portrays the wallflower Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s Bridgerton is fashionable, witty, and fiery.
Coughlan has a stunning taste in fashion. Many of her gorgeous outfits can be credited to her stylist Aimée Croysdill. Croysdill is a London based stylist known for her work with Laura Haddock, Danielle Radcliffe, and a multitude of other celebes.
According to a Who What Wear article, Coughlan’s favorite brands include Gucci and Marc Jacobs. Coughlan’s most loved pieces include bee earrings and a bee ring from Gucci, which she got because it’s a recurring motif in the Bridgerton book series. Coughlan adds that the jewelry is “like my little good luck charm for talking about the show. I always have a little Bridgerton with me.”
A quick scroll through her Twitter and Instagram feed shows that Coughlan’s sense of humor shines through. From captioning a photo of her looking at her phone in costume “Just catching up on Lady Whistledown’s Society Tweets” to parodying Love Island on her Instagram, fans see a glimpse of Coughlan’s playful side.
In a way, Coughlan’s outgoing personality is what led her to be friends with Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness. After printing a photo of his face on a sweater and posting it on Instagram, he then messaged her and they became instant friends. According to Bustle, she and the star had a weekly Zoom trivia night during quarantine.
Coughlan’s talents don’t stop at fashion and humor. She is known for her ability to capture any accent. From a Northern Irish accent for Derry Girls to an aristocratic English accent for Bridgerton, Coughlan can do it all. To top it off- she also loves cooking and was featured in a special episode of The Great British Baking Show.
Between her eye for fashion, her wit, and over-all glowing personality, Coughlan is an incredible actress. Catch her on Netflix’s Bridgerton, Derry Girls and Harlots on Hulu.
