During the Inauguration for 46th President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris on January 20, many people took quick notice of the coziness that Bernie Sanders had shown.
In casual, yet adorable fashion, Sanders, amazed many viewers by wearing a sand-like colored Edgecomb coat, from the brand Burton, that he had worn in a previous viral meme. Yet, the mittens, which were a chevron brown and tan pattern, proved to be the initial shock.
Is that the meme-coat?https://t.co/FOKK77tWwK

On Twitter, people were tweeting in response, thus creating a new viral meme. Some users were tweeting about the “Vermont Grandpa-Core Vibes.”

Vermont Grandpa-Core Vibes, also known as Vermont dadcore, looks to be a newly coined term for the sensibility over couture. This fashion subgenre appears to reinstate comfort for cold weather while being sustainable and environmentally aware.

On CBS News Sanders stated, “In Vermont … we’re not so concerned about good fashion. We want to keep warm.”
The large, fluffy, as well as cozy-Esque mittens Sanders wore, were created and gifted by Jen Ellis over two years ago. He wore mittens to combat the windy, cold weather in Washington D.C.
Bernie’s mittens are made by Jen Ellis, a teacher from Essex Junction, Vt. She gave them to him 2+ years ago and was surprised when he began wearing them on the campaign trail. Jen Ellis, who is a teacher from Vermont, created these environmentally friendly mittens out of repurposed wool from old sweaters. The fleece lining had been made from recycled plastic bottles.
Many Twitter users have been asking Ellis where they can purchase her creation, her occasionally responding with new stock mentioning to e-mail or message her for inquiries.
The whole entire crafts community is celebrating this moment with you!! Also, to echo those before me, I would love a pair (or a pattern, or to help you gather fabric <3).

When he’s not too busy hanging out with One Direction, or starring in the next Taylor Swift album, Sanders always provides a laugh.
