Jasmine Jones Dedicates Her Emmy to Strong Women Everywhere

Actress and singer Jasmine Cephas Jones took to Twitter to celebrate her Emmy win with strong, empowered women everywhere.
In September 2020, Jones won ‘Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series’ Primetime Emmy for her role as Tyisha in #FreeRayshawn. The crime television show is a product of Fuqua Film and Sony Pictures Television. #FreeRayshawn focuses on a Black military veteran in the middle of a conflict with a New Orleans SWAT team. He, with the help of a cop, tries to negotiate his way out of the unfortunate situation.
In a photograph by Lauren Desberg and makeup by Galaxy San Juan, Jones shared her Emmy win with a node to powerful women, “..may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.”

Jones is well known for her role as Ashley in the 2018 drama-comedy Blindspotting, the dual roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the 2015 hit Broadway musical Hamilton, and for her role as Marisol in the 2018 drama Monsters and Men.
