Set 1,200 years before The Witcher, The Witcher: Blood Origin will feature Turner-Smith as the warrior Éile. The show will center around the character as she leaves the Queen’s court to be a roaming musician, but an event forces Éile (Turner-Smith) to return to her warrior roots. Additionally, the show will reveal the creation of the prototype Witcher and how the worlds of elves, men, and monsters come together.

The Witcher: Blood Night, along with the other The Witcher television, film, and video game properties, is based on the book series of the same name by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski.

After the success of The Witcher, Netflix ordered two additional properties based on the original intellectual property – The Witcher: Blood Origin and The Witcher: Nightmare of The Wolf. The latter will be an animated film detailing the origin story of a character from the series, Vesemir. The film is expected to drop later this year.

Additionally, de Barra will serve as the show’s showrunner with Sapkowski acting as a creative consultant.
