‘Gossip Girl’ Teases Fans With Snapshots of the New Set
Eight years after the original Gossip Girl, fans of the beloved series have a chance to return to New York City’s Upper East Side.
In 2012, the New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg, declared January 26 as Gossip Girl Day. As a treat for fans, the official social media sites of Gossip Girl (2021) shared on-set photos as part of its Gossip Girl Day celebration.
The pictures confirmed the inclusion of two sets from the original series, the fictional sibling private schools: Constance Billard and St Jude’s.
Gossip Girl (2021) is the second television adaptation of Cecily von Ziegesar’s novels of the same name. The first production, Gossip Girl (2007) ended in 2012 and launched the careers of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Penn Badgley.
HBOMax and WarnerMedia confirmed the continuation of the “scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite” back in July 2019. Gossip Girl (2021) will serve as a sequel of sorts to the 2007 version of the same name.
The original series ended with a five-year fast-forward, making this new show set about three years later. While the 2007 Gossip Girl operated through computers and text messages, the 2021 version will incorporate social media.
The show stars Emily Alyn Lind, Jordan Alexander, Evan Mock, and Savanna Smith. Also joining the cast are Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Zión Moreno, and Tavi Gevinson. One iconic cast member from the 2007 series, Kristen Bell, will be returning as the show’s narrator.

Production on the show began in November 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic halted production in March 2020 and began again in November 2020. The show’s 10-episode first season is expected to begin airing in early 2021 on HBOMax.
Because Joshua Safran, Josh Schwartz, and Stephanie Savage are all returning as executive producers, fans have high expectations for this reboot and are looking forward to the season premiere.
