CW is known for their iconic superhero TV shows that are based on DC Comics such as “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Black Lightning,” and “Batwoman.” By being the first actor to write a script for a CW Superhero show, Tesfai makes media history and shows off her versatility.

Tesfai co-wrote the 12th episode of the upcoming final season of Supergirl with supervising producer J. Holtham. To make it even better, David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle on Arrow, plans to direct the episode, along with four other episodes on CW superhero shows as well as a reprisal of his role. Tesfai’s co-stars, Melissa Benoist and David Harewood, have directed episodes in the past, yet none have written for the show.

“I am so grateful to write for Supergirl’s final season,” Tesfai said according to Entertainment Weekly, “It’s been such an honor to play Kelly Olsen, a BIPOC and queer character in the DC universe. Working in our amazing writer’s room and co-writing an episode has been an immensely educational and empowering experience. Writing is such a passion for me and I’m excited to continue on this creative journey.”

Tesfai joined the Supergirl cast during season 4. She plays James Olsen’s sister, who was previously a psychologist for the military. On the show, she has a romantic relationship with Supergirl’s sister, Alex, who is played by Chyler Leigh.

The sixth season of Supergirl is currently in production and is planned to release later this year.
