Actress Charisma Carpenter recently shed light on the seemingly problematic Joss Whedon. Allegedly, Whedon caused a plethora of issues during her time as Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

The critically acclaimed shows centered around the sexy ultra-modern world of strong female leads. Both shows were created by Joss Whedon.

Reportedly, Whedon was manipulative, abusive, and disregarding of actors and actresses. Along with being “casually cruel” and using “passive-aggressive threats to fire,” Whedon would cause tension on sets.  Despite his deceptively feminist work, it has been claimed he used the feminist trope to create overly-sexualized complicated female characters.

Carpenter later explained in her post that, after she had told Whedon she was pregnant, he began tormenting her. She claimed that Whedon would play favorites, purposely sabotaging people.

David Boreanaz tweeted out to Charisma Carpenter on February 14. Showcasing his support of Carpenter, Boreanaz did not make any comments on Whedon’s allegations.

Boreanaz isn’t the only co-star who has shown support. Previously Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Amber Benson have mentioned the abuse they endured from Whedon.

The Cut explained, “In 2017, Whedon’s ex-wife accused him of multiple infidelities during their marriage, all while he was posturing as a male feminist; that year also saw the leak of his egregiously sexist 2006 script for Wonder Woman.”

Much of this was brought to light when Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in Justice League, released a statement regarding Whedon. This type of statement normally deems this person a whistleblower. This is an individual who exposes illegal, defaming or illicit affairs. The statement can also expose abuse or fraudulent activity within an organization.

According to accusations from Carpenter, Trachtenberg, Gellar, Fischer, and others, Whedon appeared to engage in mental manipulation, leading to the mental health problems many stated.

Whedon nor his representatives have commented on the accusations from Carpenter or her co-stars.
