What to Know About the New Streaming Service Paramount Plus

Scott Garfield / Paramount Pictures

Paramount Plus, ViacomCBS’s rebranding of its streaming platform, CBS All Access, is set to launch on March 4.

The current pricing plan includes two tiers with add-on options for a higher price. Right now, the price point is $5.99/month with ads and $9.99/month for a non-ad version.

Later this year, in June, the price for an ad-supported Paramount Plus account will drop to $4.99/month and stay the same for the plans without ads (except in the case of live programming).

The $4.99/month plan does include sports programming but will exclude any local CBS stations. However, subscribers under the current CBS All Access plans will not be affected come June unless they cancel current subscriptions and sign-up for Paramount Plus after the streaming service launches.

The $4.99/month plan includes more content than CBS All Access offered, but ViacomCBS can drop the price to make it more-market friendly by eliminating the local CBS stations.

On March 4, Paramount Plus premieres with over 30,000 television episodes and more than 2,000 films. These offerings are available through its cable networks brands like Nickelodeon, BET, Comedy Central, Smithsonian Network, and MTV and production companies like MGM, Paramount Pictures, Epix, and Sony Pictures.

In its first year, Paramount Plus plans on premiering 36 original series. As of February 26, ViacomCBS has announced reboots of FrasierRugratsCriminal Minds, and iCarly in addition to new installments of the Avatar: The Last AirbenderStar TrekYellowstoneBeavis and ButtheadWorkaholics, and Halo franchises.

On March 4, Paramount Plus subscribers can watch content from their iOS and Android mobile devices, the website, and Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV players.

New Paramount Plus patrons can sign-up for the streaming service on their website or through third-party partners like Amazon, Google, and Apple.
