The Weeknd’s ‘House of Balloons’ ReReleases For 10 Year Anniversary
The Weeknd will be re-releasing his debut mixtape House of Balloons in honor of its 10th anniversary.
The Weeknd has revealed to fans that his debut mixtape House of Balloons will be released on all streaming platforms on March 21, 2021, which will mark a decade since his beloved mixtape made its way into the world. In addition to this exciting news, he also revealed that he will be releasing a limited-edition vinyl with reimagined cover art by New York artist, Daniel Arsham. The Weeknd also promised fans that House of Balloons will feature original mixes and samples.
House of Balloons is an incredible piece of work by The Weeknd as it is the first piece of music that catapulted the artist into the world of R&B and contemporary music. House of Balloons is what started it all. The mixtape had been a free download for all to listen. The samples on the mixtape featured huge names such as Aaliyah, The Cocteau Twins, Beach House, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The Aaliyah sample appears on “What You Need,” The Cocteau Twins’ sample appears on “The Knowing,” and Siouxsie and the Banshees sample appears on “Happy House.” Beach House has two samples: “The Party & The After Party” and “Loft Music.”

In 2012, just one year after House of Balloons, The Weeknd released Triology, a compilation album featuring remastered songs from the 2011 mixtape. Fans were very upset when Trilogy no longer featured the Aaliyah sample. Since The Weeknd announced the mixtape will feature the original samples, fans have been thrilled to get these samples back. Fans are ready to have their ears blessed once again.
