The 52nd NAACP Image Awards: Here Are This Year’s Best Dressed

Janelle Monáe, Issa Rae, Regina King, and more stunned at the 52nd NAACP Image Awards, which aired on March 28 on BET. The show took place virtually this year, but that didn’t stop the celebs from bringing their best looks. Styled in designers from Christian Dior and Christian Soriano to Oscar de la Renta and Alexandre Vauthier, here are this year’s best dressed:

1. Janelle Monáe

Janelle Monáe looked gorgeous in a Christian Soriano gown with a midriff cutout. The dress was black and white, staying with the singer’s signature classic look. She sported short blonde curls with a gold choker and matching bangles. Her makeup looked flawless as she glowed while wearing a bright red lip.

2. Issa Rae

Issa Rae wore a beautiful flowy, white Prada gown, perfect for the spring season. The dress fit the actress perfectly and it featured a choker neck, peek-a-boo shoulders, and a cinched waist. Her hair was pulled into a top bun with a low ponytail, and she was styled by Jason Rembert and Kristina Elaine Taylor.

3. Regina King

King wore a short custom-made bronze gown from Oscar de la Renta. The dress featured a bow at the shoulder which extended into a dramatic cape. Her hair was braided and pulled back, with color weaved throughout that coordinated with the dress.

4. Yara Shahidi

Shadidi rocked a look that we all wish we could’ve pulled off during quarantine. Styled by Jason Bolden, the black-ish star looked beautiful and kept it comfortable in a Christian Dior loungewear set with matching slippers. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek low ponytail. Her makeup was simple and she looked flawless as her skin glowed.

5. Marsai Martin

Also styled by Rembert, Martin wore a beautiful little black dress with featured sleeves by Christian Soriano. Her hair was braided and pulled up into a high messy bun. The 16-year-old looked elegant as she showed off her gold diamond rings with matching earrings. She completed the look with black pumps that featured a unique detailed heel.

6. Tracee Ellis Ross

Ross is known for her incredible style, so it was no surprise that she was able to pull off this Schiaparelli look. She wore an all-black long sleeve jumpsuit with dramatic white and gold platform shoes. She topped it off with an over-the-top golden bird hairpiece that only the fashion icon herself could pull off.

7. Viola Davis

Davis looked beautiful in a colorful floral dress to start off the spring season. The mermaid dress was designed by Duro Olowu and Elizabeth Stewart styled the actress. She wore bright yellow nails that popped against the bright dress, which were paired with gold tassel earrings.

8. Jurnee Smollett

Last but not least, Smollett showed up in another great look. The Lovecraft Country star wore an elegant color-blocked dress that featured a strapless black top and silky jade bottom. The dress also had a thigh-high slit that allowed the actress to show off her bright pink Alexandre Vauthier heels. Her hair was cut into a chic bob and her beaded jade earrings peeked out from underneath.
