K-pop girl group ITZY has become the first musical group to be named global spokesmodels for the multinational cosmetic company, Maybelline. On Thursday, March 30, Maybelline announced that the members of the girl group, Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna, had been signed to the cosmetics brand.

The cosmetics company announced the exciting news through Instagram, sharing promotional photos as well as a short video clip on their feed and story. All five girls were showcased dancing in the promotional video clip. It featured their hit song “Not Shy” with the girls rocking glam makeup looks. A 16-second video was also posted on MaybellineNYKorea’s YouTube channel introducing the girls.

Maybelline’s Head of Global Brands, Trisha Ayagari made a statement on the new collab. She shared, “I’m watching ITZY’s inspiring rise, and as a group and as an individual, I’m drawn to the degree of their dynamics. ITZY stands for narcissism, creativity, and self-expression for fans and the global community. Their energy is strong and I am very happy to bring this voice to Maybelline.”

Being the brand’s first-ever music group to become spokesmodels, ITZY adds to an impressive roster of models such as Gigi Hadid and actress Storm Reid.

Fans of ITZY, known as ‘MIDZY,’ are sharing their excitement for the girls on Twitter using the hashtag #MaybellineITZY. Over 12,000 tweets including the hashtag were sent out by fans following the announcement.

The launch of Maybelline’s Hypersharp Liner, Ultimatte Lipstick, and SuperStay Foundation campaigns will be debuted by ITZY in the Spring. Follow Maybelline on Instagram for updates on the collaboration.
